Why Cupcakes?

Cupcakes are wonderful. Simple serving sizes, easy to decorate, the perfect balance of cake and frosting. I love how interchangeable cupcakes are. Pick a different base cake, try a new style of buttercream, punch out the inside of the cupcake and add some fruit curd or strudel, freeze them and dip them in tempered chocolate, fill them with sprinkles/chocolate chips/or fruit chunks.

Cupcakes make people smile. I’ve been to numerous weddings where these are the selected cake. I’ve witnessed grandparents make cupcakes with their grandchildren. I’ve watched folks attempt to one-bite them, or slowly savor every single bite.

Cupcakes are more then a trendy food. They’re a way of holding a sweet goodie, a way of transporting them vast distances, or even a means of mellowing a savage sweet-tooth. I must admit, I eat one of these little treats just about every day. The variety keeps every serving exciting, and it’s just enough of a dessert after a long or stressful day.
